(Was a huge gap now ...her computer seemed to have some problem .  The

phone that is used to talk to the applicants at that counter was also

not working ! All our conversations were occuring or being heard thru

the small slot in the glass partiotion used to pass documents etc. 

Had to really strain to hear what she was saying. I was guessing ,

lip-reading and sometimes even asking her to repeat what she said)

After some major fidgetting ....she said ).   

She: Sorry , this setup seems to have had some problem.

Me :   Thanks Maam!!     ( Was nervous during the big halt.  What

thanks ? say "it's ok maam" or something , u fool !)

Me (in quick succession) :   I mean, it's ok madam.

She:       How many schools have you applied to ?

Me:        Madam , three.    

She:       How are you going to finance your studies ?

Me:        Madam.... personal savings , family funds and an education

                                   loan.

(I Started sweating . One more question or detail about my massive

education loan thingy and she would have asked "how would you repay "

etc etc. Thankfully she didn't. Don't even know if she heard what i

said. As i said , phone was not working , so we both are just speaking

directly . Do applicants at all other consulates also have to speak

with the officer thru a phone ?)

She:       Have you ever been to the US ?

No:         No , Madam. This is going to be my first time.   

She:       (Looks at my passport ...then at me. Again looks at my

passport. Again at me.  Then brings the passport more in front of my

face and again compares it to me.)

She :      You don't seem to have specks in this passport photo ..do u

?     (  Spectacles are present both on my face and in the photo. She

meant the glasses in the spectacle frame )

Me :        Yes , Maam. The photographer removes the glasses from the

frame so that it doesn't get reflected on my face in the photo .

She :       (a twitch in her lips ...and eyebrows folded . 

appreciating the ingenuity maybe)..Hmmmm.

She :       (said something , the final result probably ,  which i

could not hear at all. She returned back my I-20. And kept the

passport with her  !!  )

Me :        (Guessing that she told me to go and that I would get the

passport in some days with the stamp )   Madam ,  by courier ?

She :       Yes.

Me :        Is that all, Madam ?  (just to confirm . since i didn't

hear her final decision  and i somehow didn't want to ask her to

repeat. I had already asked her to repeat some of the previous

questions...)

She:        Yes , Bye.

Me:          Have a nice day , Madam. Thanks.

TENSE AND JUST COULDN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT HE WAS DOING.

ME :i had taken couple of courses like VHDL,VLSI design courses
during my Btech course.Also i have learnt computer aided designing
tools for vlsi like Active HDL,Verilog etc in the Electronic software
lab during my final sem.

ME : vlsi is a very interesting thing mam.for example take the
pentium 4 processor in the computer u r using.it is a silicon chip of
size 2*2 cm on which more than 6million transistors are integrated.
also the mobile phones,ipods u r using the silicon chips r designed
through vlsi.
vlsi has very interesting applications in high speed
computing,consumer electronics,telecommunications etc ..basically
wherever IC's are required.

had my interview at 11.20 and it took place at 12.45 approx...

only 3 questions were asked..."wht r u goin to do there?...when did u

THTS IT...she congratulated me on the scholarship....n said that she 

had given me the visa...she did not check any document....
